In this project Biotec Sys carries out research and development activities involving Italprogetti S.p.A., a leader in equipment for the leather industry.

The collaboration began in 2019 with the aim of converting the solid and liquid by-products of the tannery into energy and fertilizers, through an innovative anaerobic digestion process.

Both the energy balance and the greenhouse gas one of the model tannery have improved. The by-products of the tannery are converted into a fertilizer rich in nitrogen and calcium, after extracting renewable energy in the process.
